MYAirline, a low-cost airline, has been given the go-ahead to begin service in December.

The airline, which is the second low-cost carrier (LCC) in Malaysia, got its air service license (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) on November 15. This lets it take on commercial flights and start selling plane tickets.

MYAirline also said on Twitter that the Civil Aviation Authority Malaysia (CAAM) had given them an Air Operator Certificate (AOC). This is another step toward being fully certified.

CEO Rayner Teo told New Straits Times that the next step for MYAirline is to apply for domestic air traffic rights so that it can start flying within Malaysia by the end of the year.

“We’re aiming for domestic destinations on Malaysia’s Peninsula,” he said, teasing on Facebook that Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching might be some of the airline’s first destinations.

The airline will start flying out of Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA 2) with three narrow-body Airbus A320 planes.

Since each plane can be used for up to 13 hours, the airline may offer many flights to several nearby destinations.

Teo said that the current airline’s fourth A320 plane is getting a new coat of paint, and that the company plans to have 50 planes in the next five years.

Teo also said that all of MYAirline’s planes are leased at the moment, and because of the COVID-19 pandemic, he was able to get better deals for the company.

He thinks that the fact that MYAirline started up during the pandemic was a plus because they were able to watch their competitors and learn from them so they could offer better services.

“People often tell us that it’s hard to get in touch with the airline after they’ve bought a ticket. As for us, we’ll make sure that our customers can talk to us clearly “Since he has been running low-cost airlines for nearly 16 years, the CEO said.

“We won’t look at chatbots, but instead will focus on how people talk to each other. We’ll also pay attention to making sure things happen on time.”

The CEO also said that the company chose red as its official corporate color because it’s the most eye-catching color to represent the airline, even though it’s similar to the color of the airline that competes with it in Malaysia.

“The fact that someone else is using that color shouldn’t stop us from using it. We found every other color pretty dull, “Teo said.
