Lufthansa A350-900 – Ni hao Hong Kong!

From 12 September, Lufthansa will be offering flights to Hong Kong on an Airbus A350-900. “Our passengers can now experience the world’s most advanced long-haul aircraft for the first time on a flight to the Far East. The flight to Hong Kong is one of the longest routes in the Lufthansa flight schedule. Flying on the A350-900 gives passengers an extraordinary experience. An optimized level of cabin pressure ensures that they arrive feeling more rested”, says Wilken Bormann, CEO of the Munich hub. Due to the flight distance—at 10,000 kilometers—Hong Kong will be served by two aircraft flying alternatively. These will be the fourth and fifth A350-900 aircraft due to be delivered to Lufthansa on 12. August and 2 September respectively, bearing the identifiers D-AIXD and D-AIXE. The A350’s maiden flight to Hong Kong will take off on 12 September at 22:30 and will be welcomed for the first time in Hong Kong eleven hours later at 15:35 local time on 13 September.

Hong Kong is an important destination for business travelers and there are plenty of interesting sights for holiday-makers to discover, too. Asia’s third largest metropolis offers visitors an unusual mix of Western and Asian culture. There are unforgettable experiences to be had, such as the view across the skyline, which is beyond comparison, or a visit to Victoria Peak. Hong Kong is also an important trade center and a key transportation hub for Asia.

With the arrival of the A350-900, a state-of-the-art newcomer has now joined the fleet at Lufthansa. The first of fifteen A350-900 arrived in Munich in February to be stationed there. By September 2017, five of these aircraft will be taking off from their home base of Munich to fly to Boston, Delhi, Mumbai and Hong Kong. The A350-900 has space for 293 passengers – 48 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 224 in Economy Class. The aircraft is currently the most advanced and most environmentally-friendly aircraft in the world. It uses 25 percent less kerosene, produces 25 percent fewer emissions and is significantly quieter on take-off than comparable types of aircraft. Lufthansa has placed orders for a total of 25 ultra-modern jet aircraft of this type.

In summer 2018 Lufthansa will fly non-stop from Frankfurt to San José (Costa Rica)

Good news for all fans of Central America: Lufthansa will include the Frankfurt – San José connection in their summer 2018 flight schedule. From 29 March 2018, a non-stop Lufthansa flight will take off every Thursday and Saturday from Frankfurt to the capital city of Costa Rica, the ‘green paradise of Central America’. The connection is thus the second connection offered non-stop by the company from Frankfurt to this region – the first being the connection from Frankfurt to Panama. Both connections complement each other perfectly. So you can now jet off to San José seven times a week from Frankfurt: twice non-stop with Lufthansa, or five times via Panama with a short flight with Lufthansa’s partner Copa Airlines.

Costa Rica combines fascinating landscapes, cloud forests, Caribbean flair and heavenly beaches with impressive national parks and rain forests, and is therefore especially popular with travellers who value ecologically important tourism.

Flights to San José use an Airbus A340-300, which has 279 seats covering Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. LH518 leaves the Lufthansa Frankfurt hub at 13:45 and arrives in San José in the late afternoon at 17:55 local time. The return flight takes off from San José in the evening at 19:50 and lands at Frankfurt Airport the following day at 15:10 after a flight time of around 11 hours.

Lufthansa: New design for the FC Bayern Airbus

Courtesy: Deutsche Lufthansa.

The FC Bayern Airbus will be sporting its new design for the first time when it sets off on a twelve-day journey across Asia for the “Audi Summer Tour 2017”. The journey to Shanghai, Shenzhen and Singapore have been chosen to mark the updating of the old FC Bayern livery. As well as the FC Bayern logo, a total of ten players have been depicted on the aircraft’s fuselage: Joshua Kimmich, Franck Ribéry, Thomas Müller, Javi Martínez and Arjen Robben, and, shown in sporting action: Robert Lewandowski, David Alaba, Manuel Neuer, Thiago and Mats Hummels. The Lufthansa Airbus A340-600, bearing the registration D-AIHZ, will be in service for flights from Munich for a further year in this new design, flying to four different continents.

Lufthansa has been the official carrier of FC Bayern since 2004. As well as its long-standing collaboration with FC Bayern, the airline also has partnership agreements with the German Football Association (DFB) and is involved with numerous other popular sports. In addition to this, the airline supports the German Sports Aid Foundation as a national sponsor, and has also been a partner of the German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) for many years. This traditionally includes the transportation of the German teams to the Olympic Games and also to the Paralympics, as a partner of the German Disabled Sports Association (DBS).

Lufthansa expands its long-haul network: New destinations from Munich and Frankfurt in summer 2018

Courtesy: Deutsche Lufthansa.

Lufthansa expands its route network and will offer new intercontinental destinations from Frankfurt and Munich in summer 2018.

New from Frankfurt Hub:
San Diego (USA) is the second largest city in the U.S. state of California and eighth overall in the Unites States. The city is located in southwest California, close to the Mexican border. Due to the pleasant climate, San Diego is known as „America’s Finest City“ by its residents. The beaches and waves of the Pacific are particularly suitable for surfing. The city is also a hotspot for the biotech and telecommunications industry. Beginning in summer 2018, Lufthansa will offer five weekly San Diego flights from Frankfurt.

New from Munich Hub:
Likewise in summer 2018, Lufthansa will reintroduce the Singapore route into its flight schedule from Munich.  Five times a week, passengers will be able to fly from the Bavarian capital to the lively economic metropolis in Asia. At the same time, Lufthansa will offer more additional flights from Munich to Chicago, USA. Instead of seven times a week, Lufthansa will fly from Bavaria to the „Windy City“ ten times per week.

Good news for Airbus A380 Fans in Munich: Starting in summer 2018, Lufthansa will introduce the Airbus A380 in Munich on long-haul destinations to Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Beijing. For this reason, Lufthansa will transfer five of its 14 Airbus A380s from Frankfurt to Munich. As a result up to 500 new positions will be staffed in Bavaria.

“With the A380 we can offer our Munich customers a premium aircraft at a 5-Star Hub,“ said Harry Hohmeister, member of the Executive Board of Deutsche Lufthansa AG and responsible for  Hub Management. “In recent years, we have made great progress in steering our hubs. We harmonized and integrated processes and are now more flexible in utilizing our aircraft at different locations. Quality, efficiency and growth will always remain our top priority.”

Lufthansa is showing a clear sign for continued growth in Bavaria. Over the next two years, the Lufthansa long-haul fleet in Munich will be receiving two more aircraft.

Lufthansa to expand Europe network: Six new Frankfurt destinations for the winter now fixed

Courtesy: Deutsche Lufthansa.

Lufthansa will today (June 06th, 2017) launch into the winter season with six new destinations in Europe from Frankfurt. Kuusamo (Finland), Cluj and Timișoara (both in Romania) will be offered from Frankfurt for the first time, supplementing the Lufthansa flight offer. The Lufthansa summer destinations Reykjavik (Iceland), Palermo (Italy) and Santiago de Compostela (Spain) will also be offered all year round from Frankfurt for the first time. The new destinations for winter 2017/18 are available for booking effective immediately.

Focus on Romania

The Romanian cities of Cluj and Timişoara will be offered daily from Frankfurt for the first time with the start of the new winter flight plan 2017/18 (valid from 29 October 2017) and included in Lufthansa’s Europe offer. The two major cities have already been offered successfully from Munich for several years. Lufthansa will thereby offer its passengers four city connections from Germany to Romania, in addition to the popular connections to Bucharest and Sibiu (from Munich only). This considerably expanded offer provides both business travellers and holidaymakers numerous direct connections to destinations in Romania.

The economic centre of Cluj in Transylvania is one of the largest cities in Romania and has some 2.5 million inhabitants in its wide catchment area. The surroundings boast a beautiful landscape of mountains, forests and lakes, and invite visitors to hike through nature. The inner city of Cluj is characterised by historic buildings. Numerous churches are available for viewing.

Today, Timișoara is the historic, economic and cultural centre of the Banat. The modern, multicultural city is characterised by Baroque and Art Nouveau buildings. To this day, Timișoara is also known as “little Vienna”. The city owes this name to its architecture as well as to its charm. But today more than ever, Timișoara enjoys another epithet: “City of Roses and Parks”, which invite visitors to linger.

Kuusamo to become the fourth Lufthansa Lapland destination

Starting from 23 December 2017, there will be a flight every Saturday from Frankfurt to northern Finnish Kuusamo. Due to its nature and the ski sports centre Ruka, Kuusamo has become one of the major tourist centres in Finland. Together with Tromsø, Ivalo and Kittilä, (Lufthansa offers Kittilä from Munich only), Kuusamo is now the fourth Lapland destination to be included by Europe’s largest airline, due to its popularity among winter sports lovers and fans of the Northern Lights.

Reykjavik, Palermo and Santiago de Compostela now included in the flight plan all year round

Good news as well for all Iceland, Sicily and Spain fans: The existing Lufthansa summer destinations of Reykjavik, Palermo and Santiago de Compostela will now also be continued during the winter due to the strong demand. Three times a week, you can fly from Frankfurt to the Icelandic capital Reykjavik. There will also be up to two flights per week to Palermo from Frankfurt in the winter. Santiago de Compostela can now be visited all year round from Frankfurt three times a week, and once a week from Munich.

Further information and booking options for Lufthansa flights can be found online at LH.com or via the Lufthansa Service Center by phone at (069) 86 799 799 (landline rates). Flights can also be booked from Lufthansa travel agency partners as well as at the Lufthansa sales counters at airports.
