Boeing and Emirates Airline today celebrated the simultaneous delivery of three 777s – two 777-300ERs and one 777 Freighter – marking the entry of the 150th 777 into Emirates’ fleet.

Today’s delivery marks the first time in 15 years that Boeing has delivered three 777s at one time to a single customer.

Emirates is the world’s largest operator of the 777 and also the only airline ever to operate all six of the 777 variants introduced into service by Boeing.

Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates airline, said: “We have enjoyed a strong and long-standing relationship with Boeing on the 777 programme. As the world’s largest 777 operator, our multi-billion dollar commitment to the programme continues to support jobs and innovation across the aerospace manufacturing supply chain. The 777s give Emirates the range, reliability, and flexibility to efficiently serve close to 100 destinations on six continents with non-stop flights from our hub in Dubai. We are pleased to mark the delivery of our 150th 777 aircraft, and will continue to work closely with the Boeing team on the next generation 777X for the Emirates fleet.”

“This triple delivery to Emirates is an outstanding moment in a partnership that has grown phenomenally over the last three decades,” said Boeing Commercial Airplanes President and CEO Ray Conner. “As Emirates takes delivery of its 150th 777, it underlines the remarkable track record of this aircraft, undiminished as the leading long-haul passenger and cargo carrier. We are proud of this relationship and the confidence that Emirates has shown in Boeing airplanes over the years.”

Emirates ordered its first Boeing 777s in 1992 with delivery beginning in June 1996.  The airline’s order book for the 777 continued to grow over the following years including a then record-breaking order for 50 777-300ERs at the 2011 Dubai Airshow and 150 777Xs at the 2013 edition.

Today’s 777-300ER, which forms the largest part of the Emirates fleet, is the most fuel and cost-efficient airplane in its class and the most reliable twin-aisle aircraft in the world with an on-time departure rate of 99.5 percent. It also has the highest cargo capability of any passenger airplane. Emirates currently has 46 additional 777-300ERs on order with Boeing.

With today’s delivery, Emirates now has 13 777 Freighters, the world’s largest and longest range twin-engine freighter, capable of flying 4,900 nautical miles (9,070 kilometers) with a full payload at general cargo market densities. The airplane’s range capability translates into significant savings for cargo operators – fewer stops and associated landing fees, less congestion at transfer hubs, lower cargo handling costs and shorter cargo delivery times.

Boeing also provides Emirates with essential support and services including parts and components and Airplane Health Management to speed the detection and resolution of maintenance issues, Jeppesen Crew Rostering services to optimize flight crew scheduling, and AerData STREAM (Secure Technical Records for Electronic Asset Management) to manage aircraft and engine records.

The new service, EK 207 will depart Dubai at 14:50 hours and arrive in JFK at 20:35 hours. The return flight, EK 208 will depart JFK at 16:30 hours and arrive in Dubai at 13:15 the following day.

Adding this fourth service will give our passengers even more choice of connectivity when flying from any part of our global network, in particular the Far East and South Asia. Once in the US, our partnership with JetBlue adds even more seamless connectivity onto their network of 65 destinations from JFK.”

Passengers from New York will be able to enjoy convenient connections on to destinations such as Johannesburg, Nairobi, India and many cities on Emirates’ Middle East network with connection times under four hours.

Thanks to Emirates’ code-share agreement with JetBlue Airways (B6) the new fourth daily service will allow good connectivity with JetBlue flights to points across the United States and Caribbean.  At JFK, JetBlue operates from its highly acclaimed Terminal 5, while Emirates operates from the adjacent Terminal 4, allowing for fast and easy connections between flights.

Emirates and JetBlue’s partnership dates back to 2010 and has deepened over the subsequent four years, moving from an interline agreement to incorporating bilateral code-sharing, terminal co-location in Boston, and reciprocal benefits for each airline’s frequent flyers. Members of Skywards, Emirates’ frequent flyer programme, can earn miles on JetBlue-operated flights and also redeem miles for flights to any of JetBlue’s 86 destinations throughout North, Central and South America. Similarly, members of JetBlue’s TrueBlue loyalty programme can earn points for Emirates-operated flights worldwide.

“As New York’s Hometown Airline, we are delighted to see Emirates continue to expand at our main base of operations with this fourth daily service,” said Scott Laurence, JetBlue’s senior vice president of airline planning. “Emirates is a valuable partner for JetBlue, providing our shared customers with high standards of service across an incredible network.”

The fourth JFK service will be operated with one of Emirates’ fleet of A380 aircraft featuring 14 First Class Private Suites, 76 Business Class lie-flat beds and 399 Economy Class seats on the main deck. Its upper deck features Emirates’ iconic On-Board lounge for premium passengers and two unique Shower Spas for First Class passengers. All passengers on-board can enjoy access to up to 1,800 channels of films, TV shows, music and games through ice, the airline’s award-winning inflight entertainment system.

Emirates first flew to New York in June 2004 and since then has flown over 4.5 million passengers on the route. It currently operates two other non-stop services between DXB and JFK operated by A380 aircraft, and one service which routes via Milan, operated by a US-built Boeing 777. Passengers travelling in First Class and Business Class on Emirates-operated flights, as well as Skywards Platinum and Gold members, have access to the Emirates Lounge at JFK.

New York is one of the world’s most iconic cities and needs little introduction. With so many things for visitors to experience including its museums and galleries, shopping, Broadway shows, famous landmarks such as the Empire State Building and sporting events, the city that never sleeps has something to offer everyone. With a population of over 8 million, it is estimated as many as 800 languages are spoken in New York City, meaning that from whichever of Emirates’ 147 destinations passengers arrive, they’re likely to find someone who can welcome them in their own language.

Boeing and Emirates Airline are celebrating the delivery of the airline’s 100th 777-300ER (Extended Range), marking another milestone in a partnership that began over two decades ago when the Dubai-based airline ordered its first 777.

With this delivery, Emirates will have 142 777s in operation and is the only airline in the world to operate all the 777 variants. With a current direct backlog of 51 777-300ERs, the 777 also comprises the largest part of Emirates’ 213-strong fleet.

“The Boeing 777-300ER is one of the most remarkable aircraft ever built, and its combination of efficiency, range and payload is second to none. Our customers are equally excited by the aircraft and its on-board product, and to date over 108 million passengers have flown on an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER,” said Sir Tim Clark, president of Emirates Airline.

“We have 204 more Boeing 777s on order, which supports over 400,000 jobs in the United States of America, including those from various suppliers such as General Electric which provides the GE90 engines that power all of our 777-300ERs,” said Clark.

Today’s 777-300ER is the most fuel and cost-efficient airplane in its class departing on time 99.5 percent of the time making it the most reliable twin-aisle aircraft in the world. It also has the highest cargo capability of any passenger airplane. Its 330-minutes ETOPS approval allows for more direct flights and decreases cancellations due to conditions at alternate airports.

The 777-300ER has consistently won many accolades including “Best Aircraft Type” which were awarded based on passenger preference polls, “Best in Class” based on fuel burn, passenger load cost and performance and “Best Residual Value for a Twin Aisle Airplane” among others.

“We are proud of our long-term relationship with Emirates and for the confidence they have in Boeing’s products and services beginning with the 777 and continuing with the 777X in the years to come,” said Boeing Commercial Airplanes president and CEO Ray Conner. “The operating economics and long-range capability of the 777-300ER have played a prominent role in the success of Emirates’ business strategy.”

At the 2013 Dubai Airshow, Emirates became one of the launch customers for the 777X by committing to 150 airplanes. The order was finalized in July of this year.

Each 777-300ER contains approximately three million components and assemblies, with more than 65 percent purchased through Boeing’s global supply chain.  More than 500 companies around the world contribute parts for the 777, with a significant percentage in the United States.

Boeing provides Emirates with essential support and services from its Boeing Edge portfolio of aviation services, including parts and components, Airplane Health Management to speed the detection and resolution of maintenance issues, Jeppesen Crew Rostering services to optimize flight crew scheduling, and AerData STREAM (Secure Technical Records for Electronic Asset Management) to manage aircraft and engine records.
