Airbus’ all-new A350 XWB jetliner took centre stage in China this month – proving that the world’s most-modern and fuel-efficient widebody aircraft is ready to shape the future in a country which is expected to become the largest market for passenger air traffic over the next 20 years.

The aircraft manufacturer showcased its MSN002 test aircraft – which features a carbon-themed livery and full passenger cabin – to airlines, officials and media during an 11-day trip that included stopovers at Haikou, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, along with the China International Aviation & Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China) in Zhuhai.

With 5 percent of the A350 XWB aircraft manufactured in China, contributions from the country’s aviation sector represent an important strategic industrial cooperation with Airbus. The A350 XWB also has received several key endorsements from Chinese customers, including firm A350-900 orders from China Eastern Airlines and Air China, as well as Sichuan Airlines’ Letter of Intent to lease four A350-900 jetliners.
