Air France to operate one-off Airbus A380 flight to Rio de Janeiro at the end of Summer Olympics 2016

Air France today announced that the airline is the official carrier of the French athletes for the Summer Olympics 2016. The company also stated that will operate exceptional flights to fly the French Olympic team and its fans home, as well as its other customers.

On the day after the closing ceremony, two Boeing 777-300ER charter flights – each one with 381 seats – will fly the entire French delegation and all the equipment from Rio de Janeiro to Paris – Charles de Gaulle.

To meet the high demand, for the first time Air France will perform an one-off operation of the superjumbo between the two cities, the Airbus A380 – with 516 seats – will exceptionally replace the normal Airbus A330 flight. This change represents an increase in capacity of 308 seats.

The airline is sponsoring Club France in Rio de Janeiro with a hospitality area at the Games where the athletes, media and corporates will be able to share the Olympic spirit.
