Austrian Airlines hires 240 new flight attendants

Austrian Airlines is hiring a total of 240 new flight attendants this year and in the coming spring. 90 are already undergoing training, another 150 flight attendants are still being sought by the airline. The new positions are related to the necessity to fill vacancies as well as the expansion of long-haul flight service and the planned increase in flight traffic to neighboring countries. “We are particularly looking forward to welcoming charming applicants”, says Vera Renner, Head of Cabin Operations.

The demands imposed upon the job candidates include a high level of customer and service orientation, a very good command of German and English, a minimum age of 18, a completed school education or vocational training and completed military or alternative civilian service in the case of male applicants. Appointments for the selection process will take place effective immediately at the Austrian Airlines Training Center located at Vienna Airport.

The flight attendants will either be employed on a seasonal basis for 4-6 months (40 people), or for a limited period of three years with the option of extending the employment contract. The annual gross salary of the flight attendants is EUR 21,000 plus overtime and expenses. Overall, Austrian Airlines employs approximately 6,000 people, of which about 2,000 flight attendants.
