Austrian Airlines: First flight to Miami took off from Vienna today

Starting today Austrian Airlines is offering flight service to yet another new destination in North America. Effective immediately, the airline operates five weekly non-stop flights with a Boeing 777 aircraft to Miami. Austrian Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Andreas Otto personally greeted the passengers today on the occasion of the initial flight, thus formally inaugurating this route: “The addition of Miami shows that we are significantly expanding our service to North America, and now offer a total of 27 weekly flights to six destinations in the USA and Canada in our winter flight schedule”, Andreas Otto says. “We expect about 50,000 additional passengers to North America this year.”

In addition to Miami, Austrian Airlines offers eight flights per week to the New York Metropolitan Area in the current winter flight schedule, namely four weekly flights each to New York JFK and Newark deploying a Boeing 767 aircraft. Moreover, Austrian Airlines offers five flights each week to Washington with a Boeing 767, up to five weekly flights to Chicago and four to Toronto. “Miami rounds off our offering to sunny long-haul tourist destinations very well”, Andreas Otto adds.

Flight service to Miami is offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Austrian Airlines will fly to Miami throughout the entire year. The flight duration from Miami to Vienna, corresponding to a distance of 8,400 kilometers, is about 9 hrs 45 minutes.
