United Airlines today launched a three-day promotion offering MileagePlus members a bonus of up to 100 percent on award miles purchased between Sept. 2 and Sept. 4. The maximum bonus available is based on the number of MileagePlus members worldwide who participate – – the more members who buy miles, the greater everyone’s bonus can climb.
MileagePlus members may go to united.com/100bonus to purchase miles, share the promotion through social media channels and view the progress of the bonus. Each participating member will receive a minimum 35 percent bonus on award miles purchased through the promotion. The bonus will increase to as much as 100 percent if there are more than 4,500 qualifying transactions.
“This is a great chance for MileagePlus members to purchase bonus miles and to connect with family and friends via social media to increase their bonus opportunities,” said Praveen Sharma, United’s vice president of loyalty. “Through the promotion website, members can easily monitor bonus progress and share the offer.”

Members can purchase miles in increments of 1,000 up to a maximum of 100,000 miles, and in increments of 5,000 up to a maximum of 150,000 miles. MileagePlus is United’s award-winning loyalty program in which members earn miles by flying United, United Express, Star Alliance or United’s other airline partners, and by purchasing products or services from many partners worldwide. Members may then use their miles for travel, hotel stays, car rentals, merchandise, experiences and other benefits. According to the fifth annual Switchfly Reward Seat Availability Survey, published by IdeaWorksCompany in May 2014, MileagePlus offers the most “Saver” award-seat availability among U.S. global airlines.
